Entering college, one of my career goals was to pair my academic journey with community service. I sought organizations where I can share my projects and further my community service. My first service project was CommUnity Project with Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW). I worked with an amazing team every week to build gardens at local underserved high schools. We volunteered to provide resources for students to utilize for Science Fair Projects. We held workshops and presentations to inform students of potential science fair ideas. I learned to lead by example. After my wonderful experience with ESW, I was honored to be a part of A.S Office of Environmental Justice Affairs, in which I could hold awareness events and conduct personal sustainability projects. Here, I worked with a team of incredible students who share a common goal of bettering UCSD sustainability. I learned to work efficiently to organize service events at Roger’s Community Garden and holding events like sustainable career symposiums. I value the intense team work experience and I was drawn to aiming for improvement each event we created together. Till today, after our retirement, we still come together and share our new adventures. We are off to chasing new heights, expand our leadership to new communities.

I am also a graphic designer and programmer. I’ve had extraordinary experiences as a leader in graphic design on campus, which stem from my executive role in Triton Gaming and CAIDA.
I was first inspired by several current graphic designers at Blizzard, who pushed me to look for leadership opportunities on campus. As a result, I am currently working as Programming/Visual Assistant at the Center for Applied Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA), and I’ve also taken the position of Creative Director for Triton Gaming, UCSD’s on-campus gaming organization. These positions have allowed me to develop my graphic design skills working for a wide array of clients, and I’ve had the honor of leading several large-scale event graphic design projects. I’ve learned to organize teams for different marketing goals, to present guidelines and workshops for Adobe tools, and to communicate effectively with different clients in order to service their needs and project goals.

My favorite graphic design project to date was leading the design team for Triton Gaming Expo 2017, our on-campus gaming convention. When I attended the expo as a student in 2016, I was blown away by the passion and creativity of the gaming community on campus. This year, I was honored to be given the responsibility of building the theme and core designs of the entire event. Over the course of two months, I worked with several other designers to build everything from event banners to stream overlays to sponsor decks. I took the initiative to imagine a mascot for the event, TEX, in my vision to bring the event to life as a character. I combined the event’s color scheme, logo, and theme to illustrate an RPG adventurer that reflects the sensational gamer in ourselves and all of our attendees. It was an ambitious project, but it was also an incredible feeling to see our attendees wear my character around their necks!

In the near future, I hope to learn from a passionate and knowledgeable team that shares my dream of inspiring the world through design and my passion for sustainability. I wish to inspire and push others around me to seek wonderful opportunities like those that helped me excel and become who I am today.
